One Piece producer reveals “hopeful” timeline for Season 2 on Netflix

Netflix producer shares some important updates regarding One Piece Season 2 as we also get a possible timeline. Here’s everything we know about it.

Netflix’s One Piece has already become a global sensation as one of the best live-action adaptations of all time. It is based on the popular manga by Eiichiro Oda that follows the adventures of a young pirate, Monkey D. Luffy, who aspires to become the Pirate King.

After the massive success of Netflix’s One Piece live-action, fans desperately await its Season 2. However, Netflix has yet to renew it for a sequel officially. Luffy has an amazing journey ahead of him, and there’s no doubt fans would love to watch more of it.

Luckily for fans, One Piece Season 2 looks likely as the producer gives a tentative timeline. Although the first season’s production took seven years, it seems the sequel is not too far off. Delve deeper to find out more about it.

One Piece Season 2 will likely drop in 12-18 months on Netflix

Becky Clements, the executive producer of Netflix, shared that One Piece Season 2 will likely air within 12-18 months, as per Variety.

“Realistically, hopefully, a year away, if we move very quickly, and that is a possibility. Somewhere between a year and 18 months, we could be ready for air,” she said.

Although the series has yet to be officially renewed by Netflix, the scripts are already ready, and they can begin production as soon as there’s official confirmation.

The massive success of Netflix’s One Piece has been making headlines for over a week now. Netflix’s co-CEO Greg Peters also shares his thoughts about the series during an appearance at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia & Technology Conference. 

As per Deadline, he says: “This is a very high bar to meet, to basically take a storied manga and deliver it in English-language, live action. Pretty much all the haters are out, looking for a reason to hate you for it. To be able to deliver it and have it be massively popular and a success around the world is amazing to see.”

What to expect from the One Piece live-action sequel?

The first season ends with Luffy and the Straw Hats heading toward the Grand Line. This is the moment when the crew will finally begin their true journey. They will first head towards Loguetown, which is popularly known as the “town of the beginning and the end.” It’s a small town in the East Blue where the Pirate King Gol D. Roger was born and executed.

The Straw Hats will encounter a Marine Captain, who stops all pirates from East Blue from entering the Grand Line. However, the crew will evade the opponent and enter the pirate graveyard with much difficulty. From then on, Arabasta Saga will begin, where Luffy will encounter much more dangerous opponents than he ever faced in the East Blue. Find out what we know about the second season here.
