Popular streamer Nick ‘NICKMERCS’ Kolcheff has revealed his thoughts on Warzone getting a ranked mode, and why he believes more mobility options would make it a much better experience.

During his recent stream, NICKMERCS returned to Warzone to try out the new Fortune’s Keep map. This new addition was added as part of the Season 4 update, which brought with it news guns and content for players to sink their teeth into.

While Nick’s experience on Fortune’s Keep has been positive, the streamer revealed his thoughts on the addition of a ranked mode. This topic has been discussed in the game’s community, especially among pro players and streamers

However, the popular content creator believes that Warzone needs more mobility if it wishes to compete with the likes of Apex Legends and Fortnite.

NICKMERCS thoughts on Warzone ranked mode

Fortune's Keep Warzone
Nick believes a map like Fortune’s Keep would work well with a ranked mode.

“They’d have to introduce ranked carefully,” explained Nick. “I don’t know how they’d do it, but I’d be in for something like that, on a map like Fortune’s Keep. You make it squads of three.”

Despite enjoying the more intimate fighting and nonstop action of Fortune’s Keep, Nick believes that bringing a ranked mode to Warzone would be tricky. “I just think it’s hard to make BRs work like that when there’s no rotation, no mobility, no superpower – like Apex has a really cool blend.”

He then mentioned how the characters in Apex Legends all have clear synergies with one another, which helps set up exciting team-based plays. It’s this that makes Respawn’s battle royale so appealing to Nick.

The streamer also noted how Fortnite also has its own mechanics that keep things fresh. “You got the building and even on the no build, you have cars, rifts Impulse Grenades – all kinds of mobility,” said Nick.

“[Raven Software] would have to add some mobility to this game, especially if they did tournaments and stuff like that. It could be cool. The one thing that I’ve always like about [Warzone], is the action does nonstop. It’s hard not to like that, you just don’t get ranked.”

Warzone has started to add more mobility to the game, with balloons and various vehicles being added over the course of each season. However, whether the developers will provide more movement options in Warzone 2 remains to be seen, but we’ll just have to wait and see what the future holds for the popular FPS.
