VP of Infinite Esports Suggests OpTic Gaming Could Use Its Current Players for Fortnite Esports – “We have at least 20 superstars that would all CRUSH the game.”
The Fortnite community was thrown into a frenzy when developer Epic Games announced that it will pledge a whopping $100 million towards funding the prize pools of Fortnite events during the 2018-2019 competitive season.
With major esports organizations such as FaZe Clan and Team SoloMid already having professional Fortnite teams, there have been questions as to if and when esports giants OpTic Gaming would join the Fortnite esports scene.
Jacob Toft-Anderson, Vice President of esports at Infinite Esports & Entertainment, a partner company of OpTic, has addressed these questions on social media.
On May 22nd, he posted a series of tweets in which he acknowledges the potential of Fortnite esports but urges patience from the Green Wall fans.
People complaining about OpTic not entering Fortnite sooner, which is fair, but failing to realize that we have at least 20 superstars that would all CRUSH the game between the various OpTic titles and the Outlaws, should they want to.

That's not to say there won't be a specialized Fortnite-squad, there absolutely will, but why rush it when the title isn't established as an esport yet and we're sitting on an endless goldmine of some of the world's craziest, most high octane, insanely talented FPS-players.

Judging by Toft-Anderson’s tweets, it appears that OpTic plan to play their involvement by ear until a more concrete and finalized esports scene is established.
It also appears that the organization is even prepared to deploy some of its current players of other esports to also participate in competitive Fortnite until a dedicated team is assembled.
This could mean that some of the members of OpTic’s teams in Call of Duty, Overwatch, CS:GO, and even fellow BR game PUBG, could potentially become professionals in Fortnite as well.
This could even be a hint that former CoD player Damon ‘Karma’ Barlow, who is currently not competing for the rest of the CWL season, could soon be taking a new direction in his esports career.
