If you’re a Paldea fan, you’re going to love the Twilight Masquerade expansion set. This set is packed full of the best cardboard critters, featuring exciting full art pieces for popular Pokemon like Ogerpon and the Loyal Three.

Following up the Japanese expansion set Mask of Change – also known as Transformation Mask – Twilight Masquerade takes heavy inspiration from the Scarlet & Violet Teal Mask DLC. Alongside the Pokemon, popular characters like Carmine and Kieran make an appearance here too.

Pokemon TCG Scarlet & Violet: Twilight Masquerade release date

Initially announced via Serebii, following a trailer released by The Pokemon Company, Twilight Masquerade was released on May 24, 2024.

Twilight Masquerade was released closely after the Mask of Change expansion set. The next expansions that Pokemon TCG fans can expect to see coming out are Night Wanderer and Shrouded Fable, which will be following the Kitakami theme.

New Pokemon TCG Scarlet & Violet: Twilight Masquerade cards

Twilight Masquerade features 226 cards overall, with a great mix of full art pieces and punchy, competitive Pokemon. While it pulls from the Teal Mask DLC, it also features cards that were originally seen in Mask of Change and the earlier expansion set Crimson Haze.

Alongside the Loyal Three and Ogerpon, Pokemon TCG fans can also expect to see popular ‘mons like Bloodmoon Ursaluna, Sinistcha, and Dragapult. Dragapult ex in particular is an exciting card, as some believe it could be a counter to the ever-powerful Charizard ex deck.

There are plenty of cards in Twilight Masquerade that will hold value for competitive players. Simple cards like Handheld Fan (150/167) were spotted dominating during pre-release and it’s likely they’ll continue to show up in tournament settings.

Temporal Forces reintroduced ACE SPEC cards to the Pokemon trading card game, but Twilight Masquerade has arguably introduced the best ACE SPEC gems so far.

Cards like Unfair Stamp (165/167) have been pointed out as being powerhouses, with the Ability on the card living up to its name. As shown above, this card can be a game-changer for players who’ve had a Pokemon Knocked Out. Check out our ACE SPEC guide for more information on this.
