League of Legends March 25 PBE update gives Orianna major buff – Patch notes

Matt Porter

Riot Games have released a brand new update for the Public Beta Environment which makes a number of significant changes to some League of Legends champions such as Sylas’ Aftershock rune and Orianna.

The PBE is a testing area that allows Riot to try out new items, buffs and nerfs before moving them over to the live game, allowing the developers to get a look at how these changes may affect the meta, while giving players a sneak peak at what they can expect in the future.

Riot are currently in the 9.7 PBE cycle, and released a brand new patch for the Public Beta Environment on Monday, March 25 that made big changes to Orianna and Sylas.

Orianna’s abilities got a major upgrade in the PBE.

Orianna receives a buff

The Lady of Clockwork is getting a major buff in the latest update to the PBE, with her Attack Q ability buffed to make it more powerful. The damage for her Q ability previously sat at 60/90/120/150/180, but will now deal 10 more points, at 70/100/130/160/190.

Orianna’s Shockwave ultimate has also received an upgrade, going up from 150/225/300 to 175/250/325.

Wit’s End item changes

The Wit’s End item is also receiving a major change, with it’s on-hit damage changing from 42 to 20-80, meaning there is no guarantee as to how much damage you will deal. It will also heal the user for 25% of the damage dealt to an opponent when below half health, and adds 10% more attack speed and base magic resist, along with 5% more movement speed.

Wit’s End received more attack speed, base magic resist and movement speed.

Aftershock rune nerf

Sylas’ Aftershock rune has received a major downgrade in the March 25 PBE update, as the armor and magic resist you gain when immobilizing an enemy is being lowered from 70-120 to 20-170, in an attempt to prevent high damage diving champions from trading each other in the early portion of the game.

The Aftershock rune has seen its power reduced in the early game.

The March 25 update is live on the PBE now. You can read the full patch notes below.

    • Stack Tear: 750/750.
  • A handful of skin bios were added this cycle:
    • Skin Line names:
      • Albion
      • Cats Versus Dogs
      • Wonders of the World
      • Day Job
      • Definitely Not
      • High Society
      • Dunkmaster
      • Commando
      • Invaders
      • Mad Scientists
    • Skin Bios:
      • Mad Scientist Ziggs: The last time Ziggs plugged two electromagnetic charges into his brain, he almost exploded. Maybe, three will do the trick.
      • Dunkmaster Darius: Sporting over a hundred different endorsement deals and tens of millions of fans the world over, Darius has transformed himself from a showy basketball prodigy to the world’s leading authority on dunking. He has recently perfected the Dunktown Express, where he dunks so hard that all public transit on the planet simultaneously explodes.
      • Guerilla Tristana: The beauty of guerilla warfare is attacking an enemy that has their guard down, is unfamiliar with the terrain, and doesn’t know who– or what– is engaging them. The beauty of being a two foot tall Yordle with a cannon the size of a mastiff hound is that no enemy would ever understand what hit them anyway.
      • Mad Scientist Singed: Everyone thinks Singed is crazy. In reality, he’s just a normal scientist with a penchant for bright neon colors.
      • Commando Galio: Issues with the military industrial complex notwithstanding, why would a government put all its petricite resources into a giant statue that punches things? Or a pair of sunglasses big enough for one to wear?
      • Special Forces Gangplank: How special are the special forces? Let’s put it this way: they’re the only unit in the military with unlimited access to oranges.
      • UFO Corki: Everyone said this model wouldn’t fly, but Corki’s never let himself be discouraged by others being reasonable.
      • Dunkmaster Ivern: Daisy and Ivern first started as a basketball doubles pair on the mean streets of Kumungu jungle– but then a chance encounter with then-NBA commissioner John Brambleback pushed them both into the national spotlight. They’ve been tearing up the court on the professional circuit ever since.
      • Commando Xin Zhao: An expert at jungle warfare, Xin Zhao can harpoon a fruit from the rainforest canopy at a hundred yards. He just chooses not to, because it gets fruit chunks all over his spear.
      • Commando Jarvan IV: Yes, those are guns strapped to Jarvan’s arms and legs. No, he can’t shoot them.
      • Hextech Jarvan IV: The Hextech Renaissance appealed not only to those with backgrounds in science, but also to those looking for an escape from their day-to-day lives. For the young Prince Jarvan, it presented the chance to enhance his martial skill– with technology that would have never been accepted within his father’s kingdom.
      • Alien Invader Heimerdinger: No one believed Heimerdinger when he tried to warn them about the invaders from outer space. They believed when he took off the wig.
      • Commando Garen: Most commandos excel at amphibious attacks and military paragliding. This one spins very fast toward things while holding a giant sword. It’s basically the same.
      • Commando Lux: Soundproof ear protectors, a multispectral heat visor, lace-up knee-high boots, and a double-sided flamethrower that shoots lasers instead of fire? Lux really does have it all.
