Pokemon Go players have called out the devs over a lack of consistency with evolution rules regarding special event Pokemon.

Pokemon Go players are some of the most dedicated fans in the gaming space. The community often reports feedback online, some of which developer Niantic pays close attention to when it comes to updating the game and introducing new content for players to dive into.

The latest in-game issue to arise amongst fans is in relation to the evolution process of special event Pokemon finds. Particularly in regards to evolving the starter Pokemon they are able to catch during said events.

When Pokemon Go holds in-game celebrations, fans have the chance to catch specially designed Pokemon. These rare looks can come in the form of a cute hat, some glasses, and more. However, fans have taken to Reddit to share a major issue they have noticed when trying to evolve these rare Pokemon finds.

One Redditor posted, “Bulbasaur with a hat can’t evolve yet the other two starters can. I can’t believe it was intended this way.”

Other Pokemon Go players chimed in on the Reddit post, similarly frustrated by the inconsistency of the game in this regard.

“Heck and here I was hoping. I didn’t even realize that, why in the world don’t they let you evolve on some and not others?” One Pokemon Go fan commented.

Another added, “Imagine telling people to hold a Pokémon for years before you can evolve it lmao.”

However, some fans are imploring others to be patient and that the devs will likely update the game to allow these Pokemon to evolve at some point in the future.

“Wait a couple of years. Squirtle and Charmander couldn’t for the first couple of years. I had 100s of each and had to hold them for a couple of years before being able to evolve.”

At the time of writing, Niantic is yet to reveal whether or not players will be able to evolve this rare version of Bulbasaur in the future. We’ll be sure to keep you updated if they do, however.
