Riveter shotgun in Modern Warfare 3 and MW3 logo.

The Riveter is a truly one of a kind shotgun that excels up close thanks to its rapid fire rate. However, with this meta MW3 loadout, the Riveter’s damage range can be extended out further than you might expect.

Of all the guns in MW3, the Riveter is one of the most divisive. It isn’t versatile but this shotgun’s incredible fire rate makes it a real problem on small maps where you can get up close to other players with ease.

It isn’t just useful on tiny maps though, at least not with a proper loadout. With the right attachments the Riveter’s damage range can be boosted a lot to make it competitive on every MW3 map.

Here is the loadout you want to be using in MW3 Season 3 to get the most out of the Riveter shotgun.

Attachments

  • Muzzle: Crown Breaker Choke
  • Barrel: SA Draven-20 Long Barrel
  • Laser: Canted VIbro-Dot 7
  • Stock: Demo 050 Buffer Tube
  • Underbarrel: Chewk Angled Grip

Every shotgun in MW3 benefits from extra damage range and a tighter spread to make shots more consistent, and the Riveter is no exception. To improve these key stats use both the Crown Breaker Choke and SA Draven-20 Long Barrel.

Equally, Modern Warfare 3’s shotguns are run and gun weapons that need as much mobility as possible to be effective. With the Riveter, this can be achieved by equipping the Demo 050 Buffer Tube, which is effectively this gun’s No Stock attachment.

Why stop there though? The Riveter’s mobility can be further enhanced with the Chewk Angled Grip which improves Movement Speed and Aim Walking Speed, with the latter even beating out most SMGs.

The catch to this loadout is that it has a lot of recoil which can be practically impossible to control using iron sights. Though a close range optic somewhat helps with this, it’s better to use the Canted Vibro-Dot 7 and aim with the side mounted laser it provides instead.

Riveter MW3 class: Perks & equipment

  • Vest: Infantry Vest
    • Increases Tactical Sprint duration and reduces refresh time.
  • Gloves: Commando Gloves
    • Reload while sprinting.
  • Boots: Covert Sneakers
    • Eliminates footstep sounds.
  • Gear: Ghost T/V Camo
    • While moving, blocks detection by UAVs, enemy radar sources, and Heartbeat Sensors.
  • Lethal: Semtex
    • Timed sticky grenade.
  • Tactical: Smoke Grenade
    • Deploys a smoke screen that blocks vision and automated targeting systems.

The Riveter has the shortest damage range of any gun in MW3, so getting up close is essential. The best perks to do this are Covert Sneakers, Ghost T/V Camo, and Infantry Vest. These are all chosen specifically because they make it easier to quickly close the gap on enemy players without them noticing.

Typically, Smoke Grenades see more use in Warzone but they work well with the Riveter as you can smoke enemies and sprint right into them for an easy kill before they know where you are. The Commando Gloves can then be used to make a quick escape while reloading preparing you for the next fight. If you do happen to get caught out, throw a Semtex to pressure opponents.

How to unlock Riveter in Modern Warfare 3

You can unlock the Riveter through the Armory after reaching level 25. You’ll have to activate the weapon and then either complete 3 daily challenges or win 3 matches to unlock it.

Best Riveter alternative in Modern Warfare 3

The best alternative to the Riveter is the Haymaker, which can fire just as fast with its unique JAK Maglift Kit aftermarket part equipped.
