While scheduled maintenance and downtime like this are usually known well in advance, unscheduled downtime, server crashes, urgent hotfixes, and more can cause the Epic Games title to stop working unexpectedly.

Fortnite has gone live with Chapter 5 Season 3.Is Fortnite down right now?
Fortnite is currently up and running. Epic Games released Chapter 5 Season 3 in Fortnite on May 24, 2024, which is live for all players to play.
Epic Games briefly brought the servers down at 2:00am EST on May 24, to carry out the downtime and prepare for the new season’s launch and now the servers are back online as normal.
Fortnite Server Status
To check server status, you can head over to Epic Games’ official site. At the time of writing, servers are running and operational. This will change as servers go down later tonight for the release of Chapter 5 Season 3.
If the service is labeled as ‘Under Maintenance’ in blue text, it should mean that there are some issues that can be affecting your experience in-game. If the text ‘Operational’ is displayed in green, it means the service is operating normally.
When an issue is flagged, or downtime begins, it will be noted and highlighted. You can click on the plus symbol next to ‘Fortnite’ if you want more information about any specific service like parties, voice chat, stats, and more.
