Baldur’s Gate 3 players have discovered you can entirely skip the Gauntlet of Shar using a neat spell trick and a bit of creativity.

Larian Studio’s Baldur’s Gate 3 has been one of the most successful and beloved games released in the modern era. The RPG amassed both social and critical acclaim, even taking home the Game of the Year award in its release year. Players fell in love with the game’s in-depth world, character, and general freedom that it granted them, allowing them to truly play the way they wanted.

Baldur’s Gate 3 isn’t short either, with the story taking just under 75 hours to fully complete in its multiple acts. The game will have you exploring the Forgotten Realms, slaying foes, and romancing companions, all in a neat little RPG ribbon.

Act 2 sees players take on the Gauntlet of Shar, a key location that is held near and dear to party member Shadowheart. Normally players have to undergo various trials to obtain gems to progress, but one player discovered you could completely ignore this, using a simple spell.

Reddit user Loher413 discovered that instead of using the Umbral gems on the door at the end of the Gauntlet, they could shove them all into the elevator. For some reason, this consumes the gem, which could potentially lead to some major problems for your party.

They were immediately confronted with the looming door at the end. Worrying they had soft-locked the game, someone in Loher’s Honor mode run decided to cast Knock on it, providing a quick and easy solution to an otherwise terrifying situation.

Knock is a Spell that allows you to unlock any object with a mundane lock, which fortunately just so happened to be the door.

This allowed Loher and their crew to continue on their perilous journey through their Honor mode run.
