Teamfight Tactics Patch 14.3 notes: Heartsteel nerfs, item drop changes, Set 3.5 balance & more

Liam Ho

Patch 14.3 for Teamfight Tactics brings more changes to the auto battler, including nerfs to Heartsteel and major changes to item drop variance to improve competitiveness.

Riot is looking to shift up Teamfight Tactics once more with Patch 14.3. This new patch brings a bunch of changes to the auto battler, including a nerf to Heartsteel winning and major changes that will see all players receive the same number of items at each stage.

When is TFT Patch 14.3 going live?

Teamfight Tactics’ new patch will be released at the same time as League of Legends Patch 14.3 on Wednesday, February 7. As per usual, expect a brief period of server downtime before the patch goes live.

What’s changing in Patch 14.3?

Heartsteel nerfs

Heartsteel has proven to be one of the most popular traits released with Set 10. The boyband is the stand-in for the gambling/ economy trait of the set, with the members collecting hearts that they can eventually cash out for big rewards. Riot has deemed that players are winning a tad too much after they cash out, so they’re nerfing the trait slightly.

Item Drop Variance changes

While TFT is a mostly skill-representative game, there is certainly a level of variance from game to game. Riot is looking to balance out the title a bit more by reducing the variance of the number of items players receive in each stage. Now players will always receive the same amount of items per stage.

Patch 14.3 B patch

Lead developer Mortdog has announced that a B-patch will be arriving for Patch 14.3 as soon as possible. According to the dev, some bug fixes and very light balance changes are aimed for the patch, with more details being released sometime soon.
