Controversial Overwatch Streamer xQc is Returning to Competition

Overwatch streamer and former Overwatch League player Félix ‘xQc’ Lengyel is returning to competition.

xQc will compete as the main tank for GOATS for the upcoming Contenders Trials NA.

Contenders Trials will see eight teams compete for four slots in Season Two of Contenders itself. Four of those, including GOATS, qualified for Trials through the Open Division, while the others are the four bottom teams from Contenders Season One.

Formerly of the Dallas Fuel, xQc competed in the first two stages of the Overwatch League, before parting ways with the team. His time in the league was marked by controversy, having received suspensions on two occasions, primarily for behavior while streaming.

Though xQc was released from Dallas before the end of the mid-season signing window, which meant he could have sought a place on a new team, he never returned to the league. Instead, he chose to move to streaming full time.

xQc did recently discuss the possibility of returning to competition, however, stating that he’d already been in talks with Overwatch League teams. As successful a streamer as he undoubtedly is, it seems the desire to compete remains, and fans of xQc might hope that this foray into competition could indicate an intent to return to the bigger stage of the Overwatch League.

Contenders Trials NA will take place from June 9 to June 24, with Contenders NA subsequently kicking off on July 3.
