Overwatch 2 player baffled after losing rank despite winning match

Overwatch 2 went live back in 2022 and now over a year into its life, the game is still working through many of the bugs and glitches that plagued it at launch.
While player count and fan interest in Overwatch 2 has struggled to meet the same heights as the original game, there is still a small but dedicated fanbase that plays regularly.
Therefore, it is still common to see fans of the shooter sharing their issues with the game via forums and social media in the hopes that the dev team will workshop the game and fix up these problems in the future.
As well as hero balancing issues, the other major problem that Overwatch 2 still finds itself struggling with is competitive play and rank.
In a new Reddit thread, an Overwatch 2 player revealed that their rank went down despite getting a win in their last match. The player is confused by the decrease in rank and asks if other Overwatch 2 have experienced the same frustrations.
However, fellow Overwatch 2 players found the glitch humorous, their comments mirroring this reaction. One Overwatch 2 player commented, “try winning harder next time smh.” Another added, “You didn’t carry hard enough!”
However, other players also shared their own experiences with the Overwatch 2 ranked system and similarly shared the belief that developer Blizzard needed to update the system.
“Not as bad as losing 48% for a single loss though Blizzard kept gaslighting people that the system was perfect, until they gave up and decided to make it more transparent.
Now that we can see through, we have just confirmed that it is indeed just as garbage as everyone thought, if not even worse.”
