Overwatch 2 players baffled by lack of updates on Illari’s ranked ban

Overwatch 2 Illari

Illari was recently taken out of the rotation in Overwatch 2’s ranked play, and since then, there have been no updates about her status, leaving fans confused.

When Blizzard released their recent patch for Overwatch 2, fans quickly discovered that it brought a big issue to the character of Illari, giving her infinite ammo.

As a result, she was promptly removed from the rotation in Ranked play to undergo some testing and fixing, with fans expecting her to return shortly.

However, it’s been a little over a week since Illari was removed and there hasn’t been an update about the situation, leaving many players wondering what is going on.

Overwatch 2 fans confused no Illari updates

In a post on the game’s competitive subreddit, a player made a post asking what is going on with the character: “No news about Illari?”

They go on to explain: “They removed an entire hero from comp more than a week ago and didn’t even mention it besides a comment in a forum post? I expected her to get released again on Tuesday, but nothing.”

Many fans are pointing to Blizzard’s previous lack of communication as a reason to not be surprised, with one user saying, “Its almost like the dev team isn’t that good at communicating… People get so enamored by them promising updates that will be in 3-4 months.”

There are members of the Overwatch 2 community who also point to previous situations where Heroes needed fixes and had to be out for awhile:

“When OW2 released Torb and Bastion were gone for a long time too, I think Mei also suffered the same fate at one point.”

The lack of communication and timeline is disappointing for many players, which is evident when they reference other games being able to take care of these issue in less time.

For instance, one user mentioned that a character being removed in League of Legends “would’ve had this hot fixed in a day or less.”

There is no current update on when Illari will be returning to Ranked Play in Overwatch 2, or even what kind of changes are being made.

Until the devs share that news, the community is going to be asking these questions to figure out what’s going on.
