The third generation of Pokemon introduced fans of the franchise to Salamence, a dual Dragon/Flying-type creature that is a force to be reckoned with.

Pokemon Go Salamence best PvP Moveset

The best PvP moveset for Salamence is Dragon Tail as its Fast Move, with Draco Meteor set as the Charged Move.

Dragon Tail has the best DPS among the three Fast Move options, making this the best option. It is also Salamence’s only Fast Move to benefit from STAB, a key reason why it is so much stronger than either Bite or Fire Fang.

As far as Salamence’s Charged Moves go, both Outrage and Draco Meteor have their uses. However, Draco Meteor wins out despite dropping your Attack stat after being used the sheer damage it deals is too good to pass up on.

The secondary Charged Move should be Hydro Pump, a Water-type attack that provides coverage against Fire, Ground, and Rock-type Pokemon. Alternatively, Fire Blast is a solid choice too with both moves having great DPS.

Pokemon Go Salamence best Raid moveset

The best moveset for Salamence in Pokemon Go Raids is Dragon Tail as its Fast Moves and Outrage as its Charged Move.

While in PvP Draco Meteor is preferred, Outrage is better suited to Raids as the Attack drop given by Draco Meteor greatly lowers overall DPS in a prolonged battle.

With this combination, Salamence is a strong Dragon-type Attacker able to out-damage powerhouses like Garchomp, Haxorus, and Dragonite. It becomes even stronger if either in its Shadow form or when Mega Evolved, where only Mega Rayquaza and Mega Garchomp beat it.

Despite this, Salamence’s actual use in Raids is limited as Dragon-type attacks are only strong against other Dragon-types. While Salamence can be a good option against specific Raids, it is typically a better choice to use a Fairy or Ice type instead.
