Pokemon Go players can expect to see Barboach appearing much more thanks to the January 2024 Spotlight Hour event – but will you find a Shiny? Let’s find out.

Known as the Whiskers Pokemon in the Pokedex, Barboach made its mainline debut with Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire on the Gameboy Advance. The Water/Ground-type debuted in Pokemon Go in 2017.

Barboach is a great Pokemon to catch in the mobile game, in no small part because of its evolution Whiscash—which is available with just 50 Candies—is a top choice for the Great League and a decent choice in the Ultra League.

Should trainers want a sturdy and versatile Water/Ground-type, Barboach may be a great investment. Trainers might also be wondering whether or not Shiny Barboach is available to catch in Pokemon Go, so before you spend hours hunting one down, here’s your answer.

Barboach appeared more frequently in the wild during the January 23, 2024, Spotlight Hour event. During this event, trainers could take advantage of a double evolution XP bonus which served as an excellent way to level up.

Now that the Spotlight Hour is hour, Barbaoch is a normal encounter in the wild. However, its spawns are weather-boosted in Rainy and Sunny conditions.

Can Barboach be Shiny in Pokemon Go?

The good news is yes, Barboach is available in its Shiny form in Pokemon Go. Hopefully, players can encounter a Shiny Barboach in the wild.
