Biggest box office hits of 2024 so far, including The Garfield Movie and the new Apes flick

The Garfield Movie has cracked the Top 10 of 2024’s most successful movies, while Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes continues to have legs.

2023 was the year of Barbie, with Greta Gerwig’s inspired toy movie grossing $1.43 billion at the global box office. A huge number that was buoyed by the Barbenheimer phenomenon, thanks to Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer coming in third with a haul of $970 million.

In between those two behemoths – with a haul of $1.36 billion – was the animated Super Mario Bros. Movie. While Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Fast X rounded out the Top 15.

This year we’ve got superhero movies like Kraven the Hunter, Venom 3, and Deadpool & Wolverine to look forward to. As well as animated flicks like Inside Out 2 and Despicable Me 4. While 2024’s current box office leader is Dune: Part Two.

• 6. Bob Marley: One Love – $179 million
• 7. The Fall Guy – $157 million
• 8. The Beekeeper – $153 million
• 9. The Garfield Movie – $152 million
• 10. IF – $138 million
