The Star Wars universe continues to expand, with Star Wars: Skeleton Crew marking another TV series confirmed to be in the works. Here’s everything we know about the show so far, from the release window to the cast and plot.

George Lucas’ iconic franchise is back and bigger than ever, with plenty of upcoming Star Wars stories due to reach the galaxy in the near future. One such adventure is Skeleton Wars, which will put a childish spin on the ever-expanding sci-fi universe, literally.

As one of the newest upcoming Star Wars projects, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew boasts an impressive ensemble of child actors, who will be led by Jude Law. (Cue what could potentially be some of the youngest and most adorable Star Wars characters of all time). The series’ primary creators are Jon Watts and Chris Ford, who many will know as the minds behind the beloved Spider-Man: Homecoming film.

While the two have delved into the world of superheroes before, this will be their first time tackling the Star Wars universe. Ahead of the release of the show, here’s everything we know so far about Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.

Is there a Star Wars: Skeleton Crew release date?

No, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew does not have a release date, but Jon Watts confirmed at CCXP that the new show will arrive on Disney+ around Christmas 2024.

This makes Skeleton Crew the second live-action Star Wars release to hit Disney+ in 2024, with The Acolyte premiering on June 4.

What’s the Star Wars: Skeleton Crew plot?

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is a coming-of-age story about four children who are attempting to make their way home after getting lost in the Galaxy.

The show is set nine years after the battle of Yavin, which places it five years after Return of the Jedi and starting at almost the same time as Season 1 of The Mandalorian. While some are worried this show will be more focused on a younger demographic, creator Jon Watts has already assured audiences that this “will not be a kid’s show.”

Watts clarified in an interview, saying: “This is a show that we’ve been working on for a really long time. It’s a story of 10-year-old kids from a tiny planet who get lost in the Star Wars galaxy. It’s the story of their journey home.”

As for the length of the miniseries, in May 2023, a new WGA listing reported that the show will consist of eight episodes, which is pretty standard for a Star Wars show.
