Riverdale is infamous for its musical episodes, but is there one in the seventh and final season of the show?

Love it or hate it, Riverdale, the drama-mystery series that brought Archie Comics characters to life in variously wacky ways, has certainly made a name for itself in pop culture.

Now, the popular CW series is finally coming to an end, with its seventh season being its last – and it’s certain to go out with a bang. We’re enjoying the season so far, and you can read our review of the first three episodes here.

But one thing about the show that has garnered a lot of infamy is the musical episodes, which generally happen every season. So does Season 7 follow that path? Read on to find out.

Does Riverdale Season 7 have a musical episode?

Yes, Episode 14, titled “Archie the Musical” is the musical episode of Season 7, and the final musical episode of the show as a whole.

As stated by Riverdale itself: “RIVERDALE HIGH PRESENTS “ARCHIE THE MUSICAL” — After Principal Featherhead (guest star William MacDonald) agrees to let Kevin (Casey Cott) present him with an original musical written by him and Clay (guest star Karl Walcott), Kevin learns the group might not be as into it as he had hoped. Elsewhere, musical rehearsals prompt Archie (KJ Apa) to question what he wants in life, while Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) confront what’s going on between them.”

This is the first fully original musical done by the show, and it fully dives into meta territory. In regards to the style of the show, think Grease meets High School Musical 3. Watch the trailer below:

Riverdale’s musical episodes have been met with varying critical reception so far. This line-up includes episodes about Heather, Carrie, and Hedwig and the Angry Inch – we’ve even ranked them all.

Episode 11, AKA “Halloween II,” was also somewhat of a musical episode, as it featured members of the cast performing a Rocky Horror Picture show number about the students who have died on the show. It’s morbid, and we love it.
