Heavenly Delusion just won big at the Anime Trending Awards, scoring the biggest award of the night, and now fans have one desire for the show.

If you missed Heavenly Delusion, don’t feel too bad — the anime show went under the radar last year. Set in a dystopian future, it follows two groups of teens, one kept in a boarding school, another wandering the wasteland, who have an intertwined destiny.

Production IG produced the adaptation of Masakazu Ishiguro’s manga, and although Heavenly Delusion didn’t make a massive dent in 2023, it’s quietly held onto a fervent fanbase. Thanks to some awards recognition, the audience is hopeful there’ll be more episodes in the near future.

Heavenly Delusion fans hope Season 2 happens after scoring Anime of the Year

Heavenly Delusion managed to score the biggest trophy of the night at the Anime Trending Awards, receiving Anime of the Year. Fans were delighted, since the series has gotten lost in the shuffle among Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan, My Hero Academia, and other hits from the year just gone.

Now that Heavenly Delusion has such a plaudit, fans want another season. “My favorite show of 2023! Please announce a season 2 now!” says one commenter. “Gonna be heartbroken if we don’t get another season,” adds another.

Although it didn’t win, the show was nominated in several major categories in the Crunchyroll Anime Awards as well, making it clear the industry was taking note. It’s hard to say one way or the other what the odds of Heavenly Delusion continuing are.

Awards always help the case, but viewership stats are also a factor, and it doesn’t seem like Heavenly Delusion did all that well in terms of numbers. But a second season could grow the fandom, especially if the quality is maintained.
