MAPPA’s sports anime to release in April 2024

MAPPA continues to spread magic in 2024 – here’s everything you should know about the studio’s upcoming sports-focussed anime.

MAPPA is undoubtedly the G.O.A.T animation studio, as it has a talented team that works day and night to give us titles like Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, and more. Despite coming into the limelight for some bad reasons lately, the studio isn’t shying away from doing the good work.

A major part of anime enthusiasts always look forward to dark fantasy anime, but several fans also want the industry to come up with some good sports-centered anime as well. Thanks to series like Haikyu and Blue Lock that gained popularity among the fanatics and made the genre worth giving a shot, fans are craving more such shows.

So, as MAPPA is soon arriving with a baseball-centered anime, every fan seems to be at the edge of their seats to learn more about it.

MAPPA’s baseball anime is titled Oblivion Battery

JUMP FESTA 2024 came with several big surprises for the community, including the announcements of Hell’s Paradise Season 2 and One Piece Remake. On the same day, we learned that MAPPA’s original net anime, Oblivion Battery, will be released in Spring 2024.

We also received the first amazing designs of the lead characters and a mesmerizing trailer. The anime will revolve around some baseball players as they desire to take their game to heights.

Toshiki Masuda, who voiced Eijiro Kirishima in My Hero Academia, will portray Haruka in Oblivion Battery. On the other side, Mamoru Miyano, the voice behind Death Notes’ twisted protagonist, Light Yagami, will be seen voicing Kei Kaname in the anticipated project. Makoto Nakazono will be sitting in the director’s seat while Eijuu Takashima will take charge of the match production.

The plot of Oblivion Battery revolves around several baseball players who coincidentally enroll in the same university after quitting the sport. The new university doesn’t have a baseball team, so they come together and form a team to pursue their passion.

At the time of writing this article, we do not know the exact release date of the anime, so let’s be patient and wait for it to be revealed as the series gets closer to its release window.
