Baldur’s Gate 3 players are calling for new dialogue options to help them eliminate any awkward companion rejections.

Romance is a key aspect of Baldur’s Gate 3, with tons of fans looking to fall in love with the various companions that surround the game’s expansive storyline. In fact, it’s such a pivotal aspect, that many often joke that Baldur’s Gate 3 is a dating simulator more than an open-world RPG.

Nevertheless, while some are interested in romancing multiple companions, others feel a little more exclusive, and are now calling for some major dialogue changes to help avoid any awkwardness once they’ve found ‘the one’.

Baldur’s Gate 3 players want new taken dialogue options

Sharing their idea on Reddit, one user asked the community: “Why [is there] no option to tell characters you’re already taken?”

Usually, when players romance one companion, the others will continue to flirt and advance on the Tav, which can make rejecting them pretty awkward, as well as a little hurtful.

“One thing I was dumbfounded by was why the game doesn’t just let you tell propositioners that you’re already dating someone else,” wrote the player, going on to joke: “Like Wyll, my mate, I respect you for shooting your shot but I’m already with Shadowheart, sorry!”

Naturally, those rejections can feel a little uncomfortable, with many players calling for this change to be implemented in an upcoming update.

“Even just a generic, “no thanks, I have my heart set on another” where they don’t get the saddest face on Faerun over it” commented one user, revealing just how hard it can be to make these well-written companions sad.

Thankfully, there are a few companions that you can tell, with Minthara and Halsing being an example: “Halsin is one of the few you *can* tell you are already in a relationship, and can then further specify that you are not interested in jeopardizing said relationship.”

However, this doesn’t apply to all companions and will not save you from the wrath of Wyll’s puppy dog eyes.

There’s no word on whether this will eventually be added but with the promised additions in Patch 6, it’s certainly not impossible.
