MW3 players slam OG MW2 map as most “useless” in history
Modern Warfare 3 players are lashing out, calling the classic MW2 map Rundown the most “useless” map in Call of Duty history.
Modern Warfare 3’s release in late 2023 saw the return of all the OG maps from the 2009 MW2 we’ve come to love for its nostalgia over the years.
Nevertheless, despite taking players back to the past, the game has come under a ton of criticism since launch for various reasons — notably for skill-based matchmaking, frustrating spawn points, and infamous bugs.
However, players are now hitting out at MW3’s maps, calling one of them the most pointless and useless in the entirety of Call of Duty.

In a Reddit thread posted on January 23, one player kicked off a discussion as they took aim at Rundown, naming it one of the worst maps. “Rundown should just go, far far far away,” they wrote.
“Rundown is probably the most useless, pointless map in the history of CoD maps, I absolutely cannot stand it, its layout is appalling, and the colors make it so you can’t see sh*t.”
In the replies to the post, many agreed and hit out with their own frustrations. Some claimed Rundown punishes players and has the “worst” choke points out of any map in the franchise’s history.
“It completely punishes anyone who tries to play an objective on the map with having the worst choke points I’ve ever seen in a CoD map,” said one. “Yeah that map is literal dogsh*t,” wrote another.
Others claimed the issue lies that almost anything can be mantled in MW3, and it’s not only Rundown that has a problem.
“I think it plays the worst of any of the maps (I play Domination almost exclusively), and I don’t remember hating it on the original. I think the problem with many of the maps is the fact that you can mantle on almost anything now,” one player explained.
Despite complaints, it’s unlikely we’ll see some significant changes to the map. But, possibly we could see the devs make a few tweaks to please the community.
