Man's plan for wife to 'buy her own drinks' backfires spectacularly

A man hoping to save some money by telling his wife to “buy her own drinks” has gone viral after his plan backfired spectacularly.

Going out for a couple of drinks can quickly see costs add up and your wallet emptied, especially when you’re paying for a partner’s drinks as well.

In hopes of saving a couple extra bucks, one man decided to tell his wife that she would be paying her own way when the pair visited a pub.

However, his plan ultimately backfired after she embraced the challenge and used her social skills to convince some unsuspecting patrons to buy her a drink.

Carl Sagan, who goes by ‘basht0p‘ on TikTok, took to the social media platform to film his wife’s “hustle” in a video that quickly went viral, garnering over 3.2 million views. The video shows Sagan sitting alone at a bar, with text overlay revealing he had told his wife to “pay for her own drinks.”

The camera then switches as Sagan records his wife chatting up another man across the bar. Laughing and affectionately touching the man’s back, Sagan’s wife cozied up to the unsuspecting stranger to finesse a free drink through flirtation.

Luckily for the pair’s marriage, Sagan didn’t appear upset over the ordeal, writing, “The unbridled professionalism… I don’t stand a chance without her.”

Similarly, viewers were both impressed and amused by his wife’s hustle for a freebie, one person commenting, “She even looked at him like ‘[Yeah] take notes.’ I [love] this for y’all. Foundation strong.”

“I absolutely LOVE how confident this man is in his marriage. No jealousy or butthurt, just straight admiration for his wife’s skills,” another said, praising Sagan’s security in his relationship.
