Starbucks employee bursts into tears after customer shows her how to use the register

A Starbucks employee burst into tears, when she struggled with the cash register, prompting a customer to do her job for her. 

In the popular Starbucks sub-Reddit, an employee shared an experience she had on one of her first shifts. She says that things were bad from the offset, as her manager rushed through her training. 

“I was just a baby barista learning to work the register,” she begins.

“Literally my first day on POS. This day was actually very busy and my slowness probably added to it being busy. I was training for maybe three days at this point and my manager had completely overwhelmed me with my training.”

“She was in a rush to get me trained so she didn’t do it properly,” she shares. 

As she was prompted to work on the cash registers taking orders, things start to get busy with five people in line, causing her to feel “overwhelmed.”

She says that everyone was staring at her, and that a “seven-foot tall man” approached to make his order “lightning fast.”

“He then tried to direct me ‘it’s under iced drinks’ and I said ‘I know I’m just trying to find the button for it’ and then he says ‘3rd page’ and I said ‘I’m new I’m learning’ and he says ‘I literally work at Starbucks too’ then he literally leans over the system and starts punching in his own order.”

She then says that she finished the rest of her shift crying in the freezer room. 

People weigh in on Starbucks worker’s register struggles

Many people were immediately sympathetic to the Starbucks barista’s post.

“This tall a** man should’ve just been patient and let OP find the buttons so that they know where it is for next time. We were all green beans once. I think they forget what it’s like because they are so used to it,” one wrote.

“I’m glad you didn’t give up, and I’m also mad at the guy that made you cry. We’re not even supposed to ring up our orders at our own stores, let alone reach over the counter to do it somewhere else,” another commended. 

One user, however, supported the man’s behavior, writing: “I know they probably are literally not supposed to do that but am I the only one who would feel low key relieved if someone started telling me what page and stuff to go to?”

Another Starbucks server went viral, when they refused to make a customer a “surprise drink.”
