The newest Square Enix release is Foamstars, a colorful title where players can team up with friends in chaotic multiplayer battles where you’ll be shooting foam instead of bullets at your enemies. It’s a vibrant and fun title that’s currently available on PS4 and PS5.

There’s a fair amount of content to enjoy in Foamstars at launch, from PvE challenges to PvP combat and a roster of unique characters to choose from. If you’re wondering exactly what you can do in the game, we’ve got you covered with everything you need to know about all the different game modes right here.

There are currently 3 main game PvP modes to play in Foamstars. You can find a breakdown of each mode in the table below:

Game ModeActivity
Smash the StarAfter knocking out seven enemy players, the best player on the opposing team will be chosen as the “Star Player.” Win by knocking out the opposing team’s Star Player. Protecting your team’s Star Player may result in a comeback!
Happy Bath Survival A battle where two players are placed in the arena, and two out of the arena. Knock out the opponents in the arena to win! The battle will continue until one team’s two combatants are knocked out. Players out of the arena can support their allies and also obstruct the other team. There is a maximum of three rounds, and the team to get two wins will be crowned the victors.
Rubber Duck PartyTeams must race to the center of the stage and fight for possession of the rubber duck, as climbing aboard will advance it into the opposition’s goal. Dancing on the duck’s head will make it sprint towards the finish line to win the match.

As well as the PvP activities above, there are also PvE missions you can play in Foamstars. In Foamstar Mission, you’ll have to defend Bath Vegas from waves of Bubble Beasties solo and have the chance to learn about the individual characters’ stories.

In Squad Missions you can join up to 3 friends to defeat the Bubble Beasties, and each time a wave is cleared you’ll be able to upgrade your abilities for the duration of the mission.
