Baldur’s Gate 3 is stuffed full with a seemingly infinite number of spells and cantrips for players to mess around with, but has a favorite emerged?

Spells and cantrips are a vital part of Baldur’s Gate, not just in combat but also in conversations and traversal. Can you imagine ever rolling a dice without Guidance boosting your chances?

With so much choice and variety, you’d think it would be almost impossible for players to choose favorites from the roster. However, it looks like one spell in particular has risen above the others.

The reason why? Realiablity. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a game of chance more than anything else, so taking a spell that is more likely to do what it’s meant to do and not bounce off with zero damage was always going to be more popular than alternatives.

Cloud of Daggers becomes fan-favorite spell in Baldur’s Gate 3

Cloud of Daggers, a Level 2 Conjuration spell, seems to be one of the most popular spells among Baldur’s Gate 3 players. It creates three pillars of spectral daggers that constantly deal damage in an area, and they’ll stick around as long as the caster maintains concentration.

One player on the Baldur’s Gate 3 forums posed the question: “Am I the only one using it in every kind of situation?”

The comments were filled with agreement, suggesting that many other players also found this spell useful.

One player said: “My strategy is usually put a cloud down in the pathway where they have to walk through to reach me and then put grease down so there’s a chance they just become prone in the cloud.”

Several other players also said that Wall of Fire, a similar area denial spell, was similarly useful.
