Diablo 4’s Secret Cow Level looks more tangible than ever after dedicated players discover a hidden bovine cult. All you need to do to find it is murder 1,998 innocent cows.

Since its launch, Diablo 4 players have hunted for the coveted but elusive Secret Cow Level. The developer’s insistence that no such level exists has not deterred hunters from their sacred mission.

Their persistence appears to have been rewarded with the release of Diablo 4’s Season of Blood. A new development in the hunt for the Secret Cow Level came with the launch of the seasonal update.

YouTuber Grampa Joe published a video detailing the discovery and use of three hidden relics tied to the Secret Cow Level. The new revelation came thanks to the efforts of data miners delving into Diablo 4 Season 2.

How to begin the hunt for Diablo 4’s Secret Cow Level

The relics found were a Musty Tome, Bloody Wooden Shard, and Intricate Metallic Fragment. To acquire them, players must embark on the arduous task of slaying 666 cows three times across different Diablo 4 locales

The Musty Tome appears to drop from cows in Scosglen or Fractured Peaks, the fragment in Dry Steppes, while the shard comes from cows in Kehjistan or Hawezar. The senseless bovine slaughter can take hours according to players who have engaged in it.

Acquiring and using these relics at the altar in Ked Bardu surrounded by Ox statues will cause Strange Key to drop. Thanks to the data miners and Grampa Joe, we now know that the key can be used to unlock the Forlorn Hovel in the East of Cerrigar.

The Hovel is packed full of eerily voyeuristic cows who stare at the player and track their movement. The floor is littered with the corpses of villagers who may have been murdered by the sinister cows.

Find the three relics and use them at this altar in Ked Bardu to spawn the Strange Key.

Slaying all of the cows in the Hovel will cause the final victim to drop an unusable Stamina Potion. According to the item description, this potion has “desiccated into powder”.

It’s unclear whether this is the grand finale or just another step towards the Shangri La that is Diablo 4’s Secret Cow Level. The only certainty is that players will not stop searching until they finally unravel this mystery.
