Helldivers 2 open world

Helldivers 2 features a variety of exciting planets to explore but is there an open world in the game? Here’s everything you need to know about whether or not there are open world environments in the co-op shooter.

Arrowhead Game Studios’ latest release, Helldivers 2, is the sequel to the beloved top-down title Helldivers. The follow-up swaps out a top-down perspective for third-person action however and it’s a chaotic action-packed experience that you can enjoy either solo or with friends in co-op.

There are plenty of interesting planets you’ll be visiting during missions in the game but will you be able to fully explore each environment? If you’re curious about how much you can navigate in Helldivers 2, we’ve got everything you need to know about whether it’s open world or not right here.

Is Helldivers 2 an open-world game?

While you can’t explore the entire planet, you’ll be able to see some of the world around you in battle.

No, Helldivers 2 isn’t an open-world game. Instead, players will be dropped just outside the specific battle situation and will have to head into the fight themselves.

So, while you do get a smaller world to fight in, you can’t explore the entire planet for yourself and will be restricted to the fight at hand. This is relatively similar to how it was with the original Helldivers so fans of the first game will know what to expect.
