To beat the story of Banishers without delving into much side content, you’re looking at just under 25 hours of playtime until the credits role. However, to have more control over your ending and the character’s fates, you’ll need to complete the various haunting cases, which add roughly another 10 hours of game time.

We’d also strongly recommend you do these cases, as we found them the most entertaining and engaging part of the game. Every case is a ghost story in its own right – and let’s be honest, we all bought this game to be creeped out by some spooky goings-on.

Finally, if you engage in the rest of the side content and take your time exploring New Eden and chatting with the various NPCs, most of whom are hiding a dark secret, it’ll likely take you just over 40 hours until you’re done.

Banishers isn’t a game where you should race to the finish line. It’s an experience you should take your time playing and soak up the ghostly atmosphere. After all, when else are you going to get the chance to explore a haunted colony after the landing of the Mayflower?
