Helldivers 2 players doubt tips can fix “broken” escort missions

The Helldivers 2 community doesn’t think tips for navigating escort missions will help since the mission type needs a major overhaul.

The popular Helldivers sequel includes a wide selection of mission types, though the user base loathes nothing more than the escort objectives. This particular mission tasks recruits with moving civilians from one area to another, all while the game obstructs the path to success with its most formidable foes.

Of course, the fight for democracy isn’t easy by any measure but players believe escorting civilians in Helldivers 2 borders on impossible.

Since the game’s launch, the community has been asking for an escort mission overhaul. It’s unclear if such a change is in the works, so one person took it upon themselves to design a best practice guide.

Helldivers 2 users don’t need tips, they want escort missions fixed

A Redditor named Zarrusso recently uploaded a slideshow detailing how best to complete escort missions. The tips seem fairly straightforward – for one, Helldivers 2 players should try landing as far away from the objective as possible when the game starts.

According to the Redditor, another safe bet is to send one stealthy recruit after the scientist while the other three try to aggro the overwhelming enemy forces elsewhere. The Smoke Grenades and Eagle Smoke Strike stratagems could prove helpful here, too.

It’s a nice thought yet responses to the post show that most players think these tips are largely ineffective. As one person put it, “I’ve tested this and this mission is just broken/bugged.”

Another player explained that tips don’t matter since the Helldivers 2 escort mission is “bugged with the amount of dropships that spawn in every second.”

Further down the thread, someone else offered another kind of advice – avoid these missions. They told fellow players, “My advice is to not to play this mission until they make it better, really busted at its current state.”

It’s currently unclear if developer Arrowhead is working on a fix to address the ongoing escort mission issue.
