The Helldivers 2 studio CEO has advised a player with financial troubles to not purchase the game just yet, stating they’d be heartbroken if they weren’t able to play due to server issues.

Helldivers 2 has only just been released and has quickly surged up as one of the most popular games available on the market. The third-person shooter sees players take on waves and waves of enemies, all in the name of democracy.

With the sheer unexpected popularity of the title, it’s run into some early server issues. The game hasn’t been able to handle the amount of players wanting to hop in. In fact, Helldivers 2 has been so successful it’s even surpassed GTA 5’s peak concurrent player count, truly cementing it as one of the greats.

With thousands struggling to get into the game, devs have been hard at work trying to accommodate them. This includes Helldivers 2 studio CEO and creative director Johan Pilestedt, who advised fans to not buy the game amidst server woes.

Pilestedt replied to a fan on Twitter, who was in despair over not having the funds to purchase the game.

“If you have no cash, get it later. While we made a really fun game it’s worth waiting until the servers can support the capacity.

“I mean, as a CEO I of course want the game to be as profitable as possible, but if you spent your last dollars and got stuck in server queues I’d be (heartbroken)”

The dev recommended the player hold off for the moment, stating they’d feel terrible if someone spent their last funds on a title they weren’t even able to play.

While the devs are hard at work accommodating players, there’s no telling when they might see success, meaning players who are short on cash should refrain from purchasing at the moment, and wait for the right time to strike.
