Arrowhead’s CEO, Johan Pilestedt, thinks Helldivers 2 players should stop stressing over weapon stats and just use whatever they “like the most.”

As with any other online shooter, there’s much debate in the Helldivers 2 community about the best weapon loadouts, tier lists, and so on. Players interested in digging deeply into this aspect of the experience have no shortage of guides to pour over as a result.

These tier lists are typically compiled based on known weapon stats that exist in-game. But, according to Pilestedt, players should spend too much time stressing over it.

In fact, the developer thinks Divers would be better served by simply relying on the weapons that speak to them the most.

Responding to discourse about “meta” loadouts and weapon stats, Johan Pilestedt noted that these discussions are primarily based on the four weapon stats shown in-game. Those stats don’t tell the full story, though.

The Helldivers 2 developer told fans on social media, “So many of you use the 4 stats we show as [a] comparison while each gun has maybe 50 stats in total. The numbers are a guideline but [do] not paint a complete picture.” Pilestedt added that instead of focusing on stats, players should just “use the one you like the most.”

While the community appreciates the developer’s candor, many aren’t too pleased with the idea of Helldivers 2 featuring “hidden” weapon stats.

One person responded to the post saying, “Personally, I hate hidden stats and not being told completely what something does. But it has been happening forever. I don’t get the appeal.”

Other people tend to agree with this sentiment, saying that people do enjoy playing the “stat comparison” game.

However, since Helldivers 2 isn’t competitive like Call of Duty and Fortnite, one can’t help but wonder if Pilestedt’s tip to just focus on what you like is for the best.
