WNBA superstar Sabrina Ionescu is out to prove that she can outshoot Warriors deadeye Stephen Curry, sending fans into a frenzy ahead of their All-Star Weekend Three-Point Challenge.

In a first-of-its-kind event, All-Star Weekend will pit New York Liberty superstar Sabrina Ionescu against Golden State Warriors former MVP Stephen Curry in an epic NBA vs. WNBA Three-Point Challenge, which has fans going at it over who will come out on top.

Curry is universally recognized as the best three-point shooter of all-time. Ionescu set the WNBA single-season record with 128 threes made in her rampage through the 2023 season.

Fans are all over the battle to decide who has the sweeter strike from outside, and some reactions stand out in credit of both competitors.

Curry & Ionescu sparking head-to-head debate on social media

Some say Curry will do what he’s been known to do and annihilate Ionescu in their highly anticipated showdown. Others are dead set on Ionescu dethroning the NBA’s three-point king. The debate makes for priceless entertainment in and of itself.

One fan on X, @rierechi was definitive in their Ionescu stance:

Another X user, @DrewMixon got in on the debate, acknowledging the appeal that the contest will generate while picking Ionescu to win:

Curry got support from @fusaiotti, suggesting he should make the competition harder for himself considering how elite of a shooter he is:

Players from around the league are split. Curry’s teammate Draymond Green has taken his side while Splash Bros backcourt mate Klay Thompson, former teammate Kevin Durant and Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving are confident in Ionescu as the soon-to-be winner. And what would a debate be without an impassioned take from FS1’s Skip Bayless? The famed talking head is rolling with Ionescu until the wheels fall off, as he declared earlier today on “Undisputed:”

Ultimately, both shooters are excited for the event, which will take place Friday night at 7 pm ET on TNT. They shared their strategies heading into the challenge via NBA Phillippines, which is the last bit fans will have to feed off of before they take the court tonight.
