It’s no secret that Pokemon fans adore starter Pokemon and Grotle is no exception. The popular Grass-type Pokemon has plenty of fans, but what is its best moveset in Pokemon Go, and is it even worth using in the first place?

First introduced back in 2018 alongside many other Sinnoh Pokemon, Grotle alongside both Turtwig and Torterra became one of the most desirable Pokemon to catch.

This was less so for its immense power or potential in combat, and more so because Pokemon fans just really like starter Pokemon. After all, it’s these starters that were the first partners for many adventures leaving trainers with fond memories of them.

Grotle best moveset in Pokemon Go

Grotle’s best moveset for both PvE and PvP is Razor Leaf as it Fast Attack and Solar Beam plus either Return (Purified) or Body Slam as Charged Attacks.

Razor Leaf is a solid option for a Fast Attack with it outclassing Bite thanks to the boosted damage provided by STAB.

For Charged Attack, Solar Beam is another fantastic STAB damage option that noticeably outperforms Energy Ball in most content. Unfortunately, Grotle doesn’t get great coverage but both Return (Purified) and Body Slam are decent options for a secondary neutral damaging move.

Is Grotle any good in Pokemon Go?

Unfortunately, Grotle is typically a weak choice in both PvE and PvP. In PvP, it is thoroughly outclassed for both Ultra League and Master League, and although it can hold its own in Great League, Razor Leaf’s low charge rate limits the Grass-type’s damage potential.

As for PvE, Grotle simply lacks the stats to be an effective Grass-type Pokemon, especially when compared to Pokemon Go’s strongest options. However, its evolution Torterra is a stronger option even if its unique typing leaves it vulnerable at times.
