Pokemon Go players have been voicing their frustrations about how few shiny Pokemon they encountered during the Lunar New Year: Dragons Unleashed event.

Lunar New Year: Dragons Unleashed, the latest Pokemon Go event, began on February 5 and ended on February 12. The event celebrated the Lunar New Year and offered a range of unique bonuses including additional Candy and an increased chance for Lucky Pokemon from trades.

However, the Lunar New Year event came under fire for its lack of Dragons and Drampa Raid shortage despite the event’s promised focus on Dragon types. For wild encounters, only three Dragon types appeared: Dratini, Jangmo-o, and Noibat, although Skrelp also appeared whose evolution is a Dragon type.

Reflecting on the finished event, Pokemon Go trainers are now criticizing another aspect believing that the lack of shiny spawns was a huge disappointment.

Pokemon Go fans disappointed by lack of event shinies

Following the conclusion of the recent Lunar New Year event in Pokemon Go, players have voiced their opinions on Reddit about what they believe to be one of the event’s most disappointing omissions.

Expressing this disappointment on Reddit, one fan asked, “Am I the only one who didn’t see, let alone catch, ANY shiny’s during the dragon event???” before elaborating, “Literally not one. None from grunts. None from raids. None from the hundreds I caught just wondering around and playing at home. I kinda feel cheated, ngl.”

One of the most upvoted comments posted, “I only got a gible😭 I was really grinding during the Dratini spotlight hour and didn’t even see a single shiny. Very disappointing.”

Other like-minded trainers replied, “500+ caught every day, only found a shiny Dratini,” as well as “All i wanted was a shiny tyrunt. Maybe next time,” and, “didn’t get any as well. You are not alone… 😔” with many players seemingly failing to encounter the Pokemon they wanted.

Looking to offer an alternative perspective, one comment asked, “Do you usually get several shinies on a normal week? Chances were not boosted, so it should be the same,” pointing out that this event was never promised to feature improved shiny odds in the first place.

Even so, the consensus is one of disappointment with Pokemon Go players believing the lack of shiny Pokemon was a missed opportunity that ended up holding back back the Lunar New Year event’s potential.
