Pokemon Go players love “Wish” Rayquaza that you can’t catch

A Pokemon Go player shared their budget Rayquaza and fans loved it but were crushed after discovering the Pokemon shared isn’t available anymore.

Pokemon Go is no stranger to extremely rare Pokemon. From uncommon species to unbelievably rare one-of-a-kind Shundos, players are always eager to share their most treasured catches.

However, the Pokemon that are truly the rarest are old event encounters that haven’t been available in years. These are not obtainable anymore meaning if you didn’t catch one in the first place you are out of luck. That is unless you can somehow convince another trainer to trade it.

It’s one of these event Pokemon that recently impressed fans with it being even rarer than the Legendary Pokemon it imitates.

Rare discount Rayquaza wins Pokemon Go fans over

A Pokemon Go player shared one of their rarest Pokemon on Reddit joking, “Why can’t I mega evolve my rayquaza 🤬,” with an image of a special Pikachu attached.

The Pikachu featured is a special costume variant wearing a Rayquaza hat available in the Hoenn Throwback Challenge event in May 2020. The rare variant has not been re-released since making it impossible to get outside of trading.

One user expressed their admiration of OP’s Pikachu replying, “Super jealous of this lol, my favorite costume pikachu,” with Pikachu (Rayquaza Hat) being one of 55 event costumes that the franchise mascot currently has.

One of the most upvoted responses asked, “You bought it from Wish didn’t you?” jesting that the trainer had ended up with a budget Rayquaza playing along with the joke.

Others joked, “You need the meteorite to teach it dragon assent,” as well as, “You have to have at least 826 candies,” and, “You need 1.3 mil dust for the first time. The subsequent ones are free,” referencing the user’s vast Stardust and Pikachu Candy collection.

While Pikachu (Rayquaza Hat) is unlikely to reappear anytime soon, Pokemon Go players will likely have an opportunity to catch the real deal at some point in 2024. Rayquaza last appeared in August 2023 and has been available at least once every year since it first debuted in 2018.
