Pokemon TCG has revealed the new Shiny Tera Charizard ex Special Illustration Rare from upcoming Paldean Fates, set to launch on January 26.

The new Tera Charizard ex Special Illustration Rare will be a part of the upcoming Pokemon TCG: Scarlet & Violet – Paldean Fates expansion set due to release in the West on January 26. The new card marks another ex release, and it will be Darkness type.

Fans are excited about the classic card’s ex makeover, one fan put it best when they said: “Prepare for stonks”.

Pokemon TCG fans excited by Darkness-Type Charizard

“AKIRA EGAWA DONT MISS,” said one fan, lauding the artist who has been designing creatures since the 2019 Unified Minds set.

Right now, Charizard occupies the top spot on LimitlessTCG’s top deck ranking. The deck’s most recent number-one finish was at the San Antonio Regional Championships. It was piloted by 5-time regional champion and Pokemon TCG coach Azul Garcia Griego.

Pokemon fans are expecting the card, which has been at the top of the TCG since the base set, to “get real hype.” Although some fans were disappointed.

“I’m kind of getting tired of them making every set’s chase card a Tera Charizard. There are already like 5–6 from Scarlet and Violet. I’d appreciate more variety,” they said.

The collector attributes the frequency of Charizard to “marketing.” A lot of fans love the card, however, and “can’t wait to get their hands on one.”.

While most applauded the card, some fans were already preparing for the 330 behemoth. With amusing gimmicks, of course.

“Unfortunately, attach ancient booster energy to Brute Bonnet, use Toxic Powder, and play Spicy Seasoned Curry from hand to use Tantrum Blast for weakness hitting for 400, ggs,” posted one user.

However, another player reminded them about the pitfall of his gimmicky strategy, “Too bad spicy curry is rotating out.” If you’re concerned about rotation to the Standard Pokemon TCG Metagame, take a look at our guide so you don’t get caught out.
