Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has a lot of costumes to wear, but fans are already upset the game is missing several classic costumes, all while Insomniac adds brand new original designs.

There’s a lot to wear in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, but it isn’t enough for some fans. The recent announcement of new costumes has inspired discussion Reddit, bringing some comic fans around to voice their opinions on how the game handles costumes.

On paper, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has more costumes than ever. There’s a total of 74 costumes available if you pre-ordered the digital deluxe edition, with many having multiple color schemes.

But for comic book fans, it’s not enough. There are a lot of characters and looks going unrepresented, and those fans are incredibly disappointed.

Note, minor spoilers for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to follow.

Fans call out Spider-Man 2 for ignoring characters

In a Reddit post, fans were gathered to discuss the upcoming Spider-Man 2 collaboration suits. The four suits, designed in collaboration with Rina Sawayama, Lando Norris, Kid Super, and Vini Jr., are coming to the game at a later date.

Despite being a fan-favorite, neither of Ben Reilly’s actual Spider-Man costumes are in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

But fans weren’t too thrilled about the suits. Many took to Reddit to express frustration over missing suits from the comics – and the previous Spider-Man game.

“All these suits….but no Ben Reilly Spider-Man outfit?” one user mused.

“Begging for a Ben Reily Beyond suit” one user added, referencing the Spider-clone’s look during the 2022 Spider-Man Beyond arc. While Ben Reilly does get some representation in the form of his original Scarlet Spider costume and its modern variant, both costumes worn while the character was actually Spider-Man are notably absent.

“nothing against the artists, i’m sure they’re fans and are jazzed that they get to design a spidey costume. but i’d rather have some actual iconic comic outfits that were omitted. the fact we still don’t have ben’s Sensational suit is just puzzling” one user said.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is missing classic comic book costumes

Many of the suits in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 are returning designs from the previous game, such as the Iron Spider from Avengers: Infinity War and Miles’ iconic Bodega Cat costume. There are also a number of new suits, such as Kraven-inspired looks and the highly demanded Superior Spider-Man costume.

But many iconic Spidey costumes from the first game, like the original Spider-Armor, Spider-Man 2099’s white costume, and the animated classic Spider-Man suit, are missing.

Spider-Man 2099’s white costume appeared in Marvel’s Spider-Man, but is missing from the sequel.

“This is it. This is the only one I need. I wouldn’t have even minded if they kept all the suits from the first game but added that, the black suits, the movie suits that weren’t in the first game, etc,” one commenter said, discussing the numerous missing costumes.

While it is possible these suits could appear at a later date as DLC, much like how Marvel’s Spider-Man handled the Scarlet Spider II and Peter B. Parker costumes, nothing has been confirmed about additional DLC at this time.

While it is possible DLC is planned, fans already have a history of fighting to get DLC they want. A very public campaign for the original game led to Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man suits being added to the game.
