Dazn vowed to speak to Taylor about his remark

DAZN has vowed to speak to Josh Taylor after the Scottish fighter called Jack Catterall a “r*****” during a fiery press conference on Tuesday.

Taylor and Catterall have an icy relationship and the press conference began with Catterall slapping Taylor around the back of the head, before physical aggression was replaced with verbal insults.

Catterall described Taylor as a “bag head”, while Taylor hurled a number of insults at his rival, calling him a rat, a “fatty” and a “f****** r*****”.

The Independent reports that it approached DAZN for comment over that final slur, with the broadcaster responding with the following: “Dazn does not condone the use of discriminatory language, and will remind Josh Taylor of his responsibilities.”

Catterall and Taylor faced off in 2022, when Taylor was handed a controversial split decision victory.

There is clearly no love lost between the pair, who have had to be separated at successive press conferences over the last two days.

Monday’s press conference in Edinburgh saw the pair almost come to blows and Tuesday’s in Manchester was equally heated.

Towards the end of the press conference, Taylor told Hearn to keep Catterall in check after the earlier slap, saying: “You need to have a word with your man here. Three times he’s tried to put his hands on me, he’s meant to be a professional athlete. Keep it professional. Keep your hands to yourself, you little rat.”

Catterall responded: “You came for my nipples yesterday,” to which Taylor said: “Yeah your little chippy t***, you little fatty.”
