Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag must now face up to “huge question marks” over his position after a bruising 3-1 loss to Man City.

That was the brutal view of United legend Roy Keane, who was working on the game in the Sky Sports studio at the Etihad Stadium.

A brace from Phil Foden, and a goal from Erling Haaland, rendered Marcus Rashford’s first half screamer a mere consolation, as City moved to within one point of Premier League leaders Liverpool.

But a second successive defeat has left United 11 points adrift of fourth placed Aston Villa and within serious danger of missing out on Champions League football next season.

Pressure is growing on Ten Hag, with United’s season in danger of fading into mediocrity after another damaging defeat.

And while Keane was not too critical of his former side’s performance, he feels the result adds question marks around the players and the manager.

“I don’t want to be too hard on United because I thought Man City were brilliant and showed why they are champions,” Keane said.

“That is 11 league losses now for United but with City, they find out all your shortcomings. There is no hiding place and they wore and wore them down.

“The stats at the end of the game showed you how dominant this Man City side were. Even the likes of Haaland and De Bruyne weren’t at their best but you have people like Foden who step up.

“He is an amazing, brilliant, player but it still leaves question marks over United. Where is this United team going? Particularly in the last 25 minutes when City toyed with them.

“I’d probably give more credit to City than really being critical of United. There is no hiding place and United will have to take their medicine today but there are huge question marks for this team and, unfortunately, for the manager.”
