Man City legend Sergio Aguero could come out of retirement, according to his cardiologist.

Aguero moved to Barcelona in the summer of 2021 after 10 years and 15 trophies at City, where he left as the club’s all-time record goalscorer.

However, the former Argentina international was forced to retire from football in December 2021, after suffering a cardiac arrythmia in just his fifth appearance for Barca.

Aguero targets football comeback in Argentina

Since retirement, the 35-year-old has made a name for himself as a Twitch streamer and during a stream on Thursday, he revealed he is targeting a comeback to football.

The former Atletico Madrid star rang his cardiologist during the stream who confirmed Aguero could come out of retirement to play some reduced minutes of action.

“People are asking me and well, I don’t know… What do you think?” he said. “How am I doing for 20 minutes of action? I don’t know if it’s 20, but ten?”

His cardiologist then replied: “You won’t have any problems playing for that long. Logically, we have to do the studies, which already correspond, and make you run as if it were a game.

“When you approach the two centre backs, if you have to do a trick, something like that, you have to be well prepared.

“So I would tell you to, ‘get ready, there is hope’ you could say. You have to get well, in a physical state for a few minutes [of action]. In short, it is possible.”

If Aguero does make a comeback, he is targeting a return to boyhood club Independiente, where he started his career. They are managed by former strike partner for club and country, Carlos Tevez.

“If Carlitos [Tevez] calls me, what do you expect me to do? Yes, the idea was to be able to come for six months or a year. The idea was to play here and then hang up my boots, but that didn’t happen.”
