Nothing Phone 2a could become the first smartphone in the company’s lineup to launch without this fan-favorite feature.
Nothing has confirmed it is launching a new smartphone very soon. While the exact launch date is still anyone’s guess, a freshly leaked image suggests the upcoming Phone 2a will come with major sacrifices to keep the cost in check.
Nothing Phone 2a’s design may not be the same as the existing Nothing smartphones. The semi-transparent back showcasing the phone’s internals may still be present, but a notable feature that has gained popularity among users might be missing.
Nothing Phone 2a could ditch the LEDs
According to the image shared by SmartPrix, in collaboration with well-known tipster @OnLeaks, Nothing Phone 2a may not feature the Glyph Interface. In case you don’t know, Nothing’s Glyph Interface refers to the LED lights on the back of the phone which act as call and notification indicators.
Nothing seems to be aiming the Phone 2a squarely at budget-minded buyers, and they’re ditching the fancy LED lights to make it stand out from their other phones. The flashy feature may still be present on the upcoming Nothing Phone 3.
The Nothing Phone 2a features two cameras, as seen in the image. Their alignment appears to be vertical, unlike the horizontal layout we saw in earlier leaks. Plus, there’s a mysterious circular element at the top with lines flowing down the center. The Nothing branding is seen on the bottom left with CE certification details on the right.
The smartphone is already listed on the Indian e-commerce store Flipkart, however, we are not sure if it will also make it to the US.
Previous reports claim the Nothing Phone 2a could be built around a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Powering the phone could be a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC. It might come with up to 12GB of RAM and cost around 400 Euros.
