A Steam Deck owner on Reddit says his “day is ruined” after a tea break ended in disaster for his gaming handheld.

With the popularity of Valve’s Steam Deck gaming handheld making it one of the most popular devices in recent years, there’s no doubt that some have faced a disastrous situation.

Whether they get stolen, broken, or even just simply lost, the possibilities of what could happen are endless.

A Steam Deck owner on Reddit recently learned this the hard way after taking a break for tea ended in disaster for the gaming handheld.

Steam Deck owner steps on device, shatters screen

Shared on the Steam Deck subreddit on February 6, 2024, the user shared the unfortunate demise that his Valve gaming handheld met after a recent tea break.

“My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined,” he said. “I left my steam deck charging on the floor and you can probably guess what happened. Already got a ticket to replace the LCD and I’m posting it tomorrow but that was a £150 mistake”

Being that he left it on the floor, many users were quite curious as to why he would do that.

“I put it down because I was eating tea and there was no surface to put it on at the time. While we eat tea we were watching sopranos and I forgot about it and stepped on it getting a drink,” he explained.

Others took to the replies to share their reactions, with many shocked and confused about the situation.

“Why would you leave it in the floor….” one user replied.

Another joked: “My only logical explanation to this. U left it charging on the floor, you fell asleep, then your steamdeck went out for a few pints with the lads and got into a bar fight.”

“Now you have an excuse to get a steam deck oled,” a third user commented. However, OP said he mentioned getting a new Steam Deck to his girlfriend, who “gave me a look that said it was not a good idea.”
