Comedy Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, one of the biggest movies from the 1980s, is seemingly getting a spinoff from an unexpected point of view.

The 1980s were filled with a ton of iconic films that have inspired generations of movie lovers and one of such films was John Hughes’s teen comedy Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

Starring Matthew Broderick, Alan Ruck, and Mia Sara, the film followed popular troublemaker Ferris Bueller as he convinced Cameron, his best friend, and Sloane, his girlfriend, to ditch school for a day only to endure increasingly wacky situations.

The film was a huge hit becoming the tenth-highest-grossing film of 1986 and launching the careers of its leading actors. And now it looks like the movie will be getting a sequel, even if fans of the original don’t really want it.

Ferris Bueller 2 is the movie no one asked for

According to movie insider Jeff Sneider, Paramount Pictures is gearing up to launch a spinoff to comedy Ferris Bueller’s Day Off titled Sam and Victor’s Day Off.

The film will be directed by David Katzenberg, who is best known for directing 2017’s It and the upcoming Beetlejuice sequel.

Sam and Victor’s Day Off will follow the same day shown in the original film, only the movie will focus on the two valets who borrow the beloved Ferrari that Cameron took from his father at Ferris’ request.

Unsurprisingly, fans of the original film weren’t too happy that their favorite ’80s flick will be getting a sequel with one Twitter user writing, “But why do we need this film?”

One fan expressed that Hollywood’s need to make spin-offs “needs to die ASAP” with another simply stating, “Literally no one wants this.”

However, the overall reaction to the news wasn’t all negative as some Ferris Bueller fans were intrigued by the premise of a spin-off rather than a direct sequel.

“I’m embarrassed to say that I have no problem with this,” one fan wrote, “I’d rather have a sidequel than a remake or legacy sequel. I’m looking towards the bright side of this situation lmao.”
