Deadpool 3 may not be called Deadpool 3

Deadpool 3 is only a few months away – but Kevin Feige has been spotted sporting a hat that may be teasing a different title for the threequel.

Ryan Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth was initially (and accidentally) unleashed upon the world in leaked test footage in the mid-2010s. Who knows, perhaps it was a sly psyop to prove there was demand for the film while whetting audiences’ appetites – whoever was responsible, it worked an absolute treat.

Now, we’ve had two incredibly successful, acclaimed movies that grossed more than $1.5 billion combined. Marvel has respected Reynolds’ symbiotic relationship with the character, allowing him to carry over into a follow-up that’ll be the franchise’s first R-rated movie.

Deadpool 3 isn’t just the biggest MCU release of 2024 – there’s an argument to be made that the whole cinematic universe depends on it. Now, as we approach its first teaser trailer, it may have a different title than expected.

Deadpool 3 may have a different title

Feige recently appeared at the Saturn Awards on behalf of James Gunn for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s win for Best Superhero Film. As the Marvel chief is wont to do, he was wearing a hat to promote the next movie in the franchise – and on this occasion, that happens to be Deadpool 3.

There are two takeaways: firstly, he revealed the movie’s half-Deadpool, half-Wolverine logo; and secondly, the name doesn’t look like Deadpool 3. It’s impossible to make out from the photos, but we could be getting a title reveal as well as a trailer at the Super Bowl.

Deadpool & Wolverine is a common prediction among fans. Others believe the hat says Deadpool: Ears Acquired, playing on Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox.

Whatever it is, we’ll likely find out very soon. Deadpool 3 will hit cinemas on July 26, 2024 – you can find out more about the film here.
