Gen V creators molded a five-foot member for premiere episode’s sex scene

Gen V’s executive producers recently revealed that their crew created a life-like penis for a sex scene shown in Episode 1.

Though it’s only aired four episodes, Gen V — the spin-off series of Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys — has already exploded onto the superhero scene.

The series follows the young super powered students of Godolkin University, a college dedicated to teaching their students to be superheroes.

Gen V has showcased a lot of blood, gore, and sexually graphic scenes throughout its first four episodes, including one where the creators had to replicate a real-life penis.

Gen V’s first sex scene included an actual five foot long penis

In its premiere episode, God U student Emma is hooking up with her classmate Liam, who has a fetish for shrinking heroes. So, despite being uncomfortable, Emma uses her shrinking powers and becomes super tiny before jumping onto Liam’s penis, which looks huge in comparison.

While chatting with Variety, executive producers Eric Kripke and Michele Fazekas broke down the practical effects used in Emma’s sex scene and their thought process behind it.

Fazekas stated that they didn’t use a CGI penis in the scene as he said, “We have a practical, five-foot penis and we enhanced it with visual effects.”

Kripke added, “It’s not our style to CG a penis. I think it’s important for verisimilitude that we create these penises practically. When we were writing the pilot, that scene, as shocking as it is, is about Emma’s self- esteem. It’s about being goaded and pressured into doing something sexually that she’s not comfortable with, and that really costs her something.

“Again, we’re never like, ‘Hey, we blew up a dick in ‘The Boys’ so let’s have a tiny person climb a dick in this one.’ We’re always talking about, ‘She’s going through it’ and this was a bold way to dramatize that.”

Fazekas and Kripke were adamant that, while the idea of a giant penis or an exploding one may be funny, they never tried to minimize the issues surrounding why the penises were on screen, whether it had to be do with eating disorders or sexual assault.

“You can get into real things that real people are going through,” Kripke explained, “Is there snarky dialogue in the show? Yes, but ‘The Boys’ universe is not like a Joss Whedon, everything-is-fun-and-light-and-bopping-around.”
