Jennifer Lawrence’s raunchy R-rated comedy tops Netflix chart

no hard feelings still

It’s the comedy that nobody was expecting to be as good as it is – and now Jennifer Lawrence’s raunchy comedy No Hard Feelings has topped the Netflix charts.

First released back in June 2023, the movie managed to hold a decent amount of weight at the box office, with plenty of interest in it being released digitally.

The film’s synopsis reads: “On the brink of losing her childhood home, a desperate woman agrees to date a wealthy couple’s introverted and awkward 19-year-old son. However, he proves to be more of a challenge than she expected, and time is running out before she loses it all.” Read our full movie review here.

While Lawrence’s raunchy form of comedy isn’t for everyone, No Hard Feelings has smashed its competitors out of the way to land the number one spot on the top 10 Netflix chart.

Jennifer Lawrence’s No Hard Feelings leads Netflix chart

As of October 24, 2023, No Hard Feelings holds the top spot on Netflix’s top 10 movies chart.

The film had some stiff competition over the weekend in the form of new Bill Burr comedy Old Dads, which took the top spot across its opening three days.

However, No Hard Feelings wasted no time in taking the top spot off of Burr’s comedy to kick-start a brand new week.

The Netflix top 10 chart now is as follows:

  • No Hard Feelings
  • Old Dads
  • Long Shot
  • The Devil on Trial
  • Tammy
  • Reptile
  • Casper
  • Hotel Transylvania 2
  • The Misfits
  • Spy Kids

Though the Jennifer Lawrence comedy is performing well on Netflix, it doesn’t mean everyone has been a fan of the film so far.

In our review, we said: “While this movie and its actors have potential, you’ll likely find yourself cringing more than laughing. At the very least, the Montauk coastal setting makes for some nice scenery, which you get closer views of during the movie’s credits. But overall, it might just be worth heading to the beach instead of the cinema.”

Over on Rotten Tomatoes, feedback for No Hard Feelings is a mixed bag.

Claudia Puig from FilmWeek said: “It appears to be a raucous sex comedy, but it ends up sentimental and predictable,” while Wendy Ide from the Observer agreed: “[An] amusing but instantly forgettable romp. The unstoppable force of Lawrence’s charisma notwithstanding, this is not so much tasteless, just a bit bland.”

However, Sonny Bunch from The Bulwark was more positive, stating: “It’s a real shame that [Jennifer Lawrence] spent a decade playing noted sourpuss Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games and its sequels, as she has better comic timing than just about anyone else from her age cohort.”

Justine Smith from Cult MTL added: “If No Hard Feelings works, though, it’s largely because of the chemistry between Lawrence and Feldman. They make the dialogue fly, and both have a surprising talent for physical comedy.”
