Saoirse Ronan, one of the stars of Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird, has revealed what she would do for the film to get a sequel.

Greta Gerwig has been on a roll with her filmmaking career over the last few years with her latest venture, Barbie, making over $1 billion at the box office.

However, her first mainstream break out film, 2017’s Lady Bird, continues to be quite popular with fans years after its release as it story of a teen girl coming of age still resonates with audiences.

And it seems like the film still holds a place in the cast’s heart as the movie’s star, Saoirse Ronan, recently revealed how badly she wants to do a sequel to the movie.

Ronan holds out hope for Lady Bird 2

While appearing at Variety Studio during the Sundance Film Festival, Ronan was asked if she would be open to appearing in a sequel to Lady Bird.

The film ends with Ronan’s character Christine “Lady Bird” McPherson going off to college in New York after an intense fight with her mother, Marion, and leaves room for a sequel as Christine spends the final moments of the film calling home and leaving an apologetic voicemail for Marion thanking her mother for all she did for her.

“[Greta and I] did discuss while we were making the film that we would love to revisit it,” Ronan said, “I’ve heard she’s started talking about it. I’ll do everything with her for as long as she’ll have me.

Gerwig has also been open about returning to Lady Bird as she spoke candidly about the possibility during a Barbie screening event.

“I haven’t thought about it that way, although part of me would love to, because I love Saoirse as an actor, and I love the character,” Gerwig stated, “I would revisit it. I know I definitely wanna make more films in Sacramento, that’s something I know I wanna do. I have a vague idea for two other ones. So that’s gonna happen. So stay tuned for the Sacramento trilogy.”
