Viewers are getting ready to say goodbye to Young Sheldon, and so is its cast, with one member posting their “long goodbye” to social media.

Saying goodbye to Young Sheldon has so far felt like a slow and painful breakup, as fans head towards the beginning of the end – also known as Season 7 debuting on February 15.

Viewers are both hotly anticipating the show’s end and never wanting it to arrive at all, although there is a silver lining in the form of a confirmed sequel for Georgie and Mandy.

As the final countdown is on, one Young Sheldon cast member has officially started their “long goodbye” on social media.

Annie Potts – who plays Meemaw on the show – has started to post her “long goodbye” to Young Sheldon Season 7 on social media.

In an Instagram reel, Potts shows fans a behind-the-scenes look at Meemaw’s gambling parlor, framing it as the start of her “long goodbye” as the cast continues to work on Season 7.

Potts also reveals that the crew included a poster of her first film, Corvette Summer, on one of the parlor walls. She appeared in the movie alongside Star Wars legend Mark Hamill.

Fan responses flooded her comment section thick and fast, with one stating: “I’ve loved you on Young Sheldon. I wish you would have played MeeMaw on The Big Bang Theory. Much love and respect for all your work on this show. I sure did enjoy the back-and-forth insults between you and George! Wishing you all the best!”

Though viewers aren’t sure how her journey will end on Young Sheldon Season 7, many agree that Meemaw is one of the most beloved parts of the show.

“I JUST LOVE her energy!!! I don’t know how to describe it,” one fan posted on Reddit. “How she LITERALLY just does her own thing, compared to Mary who is very reserved. How she is NOT afraid to remind Dr. Sturgis when he’s being inappropriate. How she encourages Sheldon’s ideas and fosters a close relationship with Missy. How she is literally the mom of the series with everyone coming to her.

“She’s actually such a mood though. But I loved how she was able to de-escalate Dr Sturgis (John) from his psychotic episode and listen carefully. She comes across as uncaring but oh boy her heart… I can’t.”
