Jujutsu Kaisen editor knows how the manga will end

Jujutsu Kaisen’s manga is still far from over, but the editor already knows how it will end. Here’s what he had to say about it.

Jujutsu Kaisen manga debuted in 2018 and is now one of the most popular new-gen Shonen series. The end of the story has been a topic of discussion since January 2023, when Gege Akutami shared a message saying it would be good to end the manga that year.

However, during Jump Festa 2024 last month, the mangaka hinted that the manga will end this year. Although nothing has been set in stone yet, Gojo’s death and the battle against the strongest is a major reminder that the story is in its final stretch.

The sorcerers are currently fighting against the two villains. There are a lot of unanswered questions, but the Jujutsu Kaisen editor reveals he knows about the manga ending.

In an interview, the host asked, “You know what’s going to happen in JJK in the future, right?”

Junya Fukuda responded: “Yeah, the author told me everything. The ending, too.” When the host expressed his shock, Fukuda added: “We’ve already had a meeting about the ending.”

When the host asked if other editors also know the ending, Fukuda said: “It’s not like that. When we continued our meetings, Akutami Sensei told me what he wanted to happen in the future and as I listened to him, I naturally understood the ending.”

The host again asked: “Did you have any hesitation to know the ending first?”

Fukuda responds positively: “Yeah, but I enjoyed it a lot. I was like, ‘It’s so interesting!’ Just listening to him convinced me that the ending would be good.”

What is currently happening in the manga?

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 247 features the battle between Higuruma and Sukuna, and as expected, the former loses. However, Higuruma already has a plan in mind before deciding to sacrifice himself. It seems to be part of an elaborate plan, but the series has yet to reveal all the details. At the end of the chapter, Higuruma entrusts his will to Yuji as the latter wields his Executioner’s Sword.

Furthermore, the recent chapter not only shows Higuruma’s death but also Yuji using Choso’s Piercing Blood technique. Chapter 246 features Sukuna impaling Choso, but even those severe injuries don’t prove he’s dead.

In Chapter 247, when almost getting hit by Piercing Blood, Sukuna thinks it’s Choso’s attack. However, since the latter is in no condition to fight, it simply means that Yuji must’ve used the technique. Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 244 features a brief flashback before the battle of the strongest, where Yuji thanks Noritoshi Kamo for teaching him since Choso isn’t good at it.

It’s clear that this scene indicates Noritoshi and Choso teaching Blood Manipulation to Yuji. However, that doesn’t mean it’s the only thing Yuji can do. His powers are still a mystery in the series. The upcoming chapter might unravel more secrets about Yuji’s powers.
